International Chess Festival “Moscow Open 2008” which took place from 2nd to 10th of February was finished today in Russian State Social University.

Artyom Timofeev, an International GM from Kazan has won the main tournament “Open A”. He won the leader, Ernesto Inarkiev in last round and scored 7.5 points from 9. Alexander Lastin (Russia), another contender to the title, ended in a draw against Vladimir Malakhov (Russia) and was behind the winner in a half-point. 8 more players scored 7 points each – Sergey Volkov (Russia), Zahar Efimenko (Ukraine), Alexander Lastin (Russia), Baadur Jobava (Georgia), Ernesto Inarkiev, Murtas Kazhgaleyev (Kazakhstan), Alexander Moiseenko (Ukraine) and Igor Kurnosov (Russia).

In additional factor Alexander Riazantsev has won Silver, Sergey Volkov has won Bronze.

Anna Muzychuk (Slovenia) has won “Open C”. She ended quickly in a draw against Harika Dronavalli (India). Anna scored 8 points from 9. Anna Ushenina (Ukraine) has won Irina Krush (USA) in the last round and won Silver with 7.5 points. Natalia Zhukova (Ukraine), Harika Dronavalli and Kateryna Lahno (Ukraine) took the 3rd place. They scored 7 points from 9. Zhukova has won Bronze in additional factor.

Khodjayan Vardan from Armenia has won “B” tournament. In the last round he ended in a draw and scored 8,5 points from 9. Oleg Orlov from Russia scored 8 points and won Silver medal. Places from 3rd to 8th shared 6 players. The best from them was Sergey Koroshchenko from Russia, he ‘s won Bronze. The closing ceremony will be held today at 18:00.
