Players from 32 countries strive for victory at «Moscow Open 2008»




First round’s games in four tournaments of the Festival «Moscow Open 2008» were held on the 2nd of February, Saturday. Players from 32 countries strive for victory at the International Festival «Moscow Open 2008». 110 of them are Grandmasters.

Two unexpected results were fixed in the first round of «Îpen A». One of the favorites of the Tournament, student of RSSU GM Ernesto Inarkiev suffered a defeat from his compatriot, FIDE master Andrey Okara. Bartlomiej Macieja (Poland) loosed to international master Konstantin Kalashnikov (Russia).

Only players, who chose 9-days schedule of games with the classic time control began their tournament. The players who chose 7-days schedule will begin to play in several days. They’ll play 2 games a day. The players who chose 6-days schedule will play their first 4 games in one day (quick chess).

Only 9 from 68 games in «Open C» were ended in a draw. Other games were finished with results.
