Struggle is escalating at the Festival «Moscow Open 2008».
On the 4th of February 18 players who chose 7-days schedule of games joined «Open À» tournament. Alexander Lastin (Russia), the winner of «Moscow Open 2006» and Vasily Emelin (Russia), the medal winner of «Moscow Open 2007» are among them. After two rounds the leaders are Stanislav Voicekhovskiy (Russia) and Ilya Dudukin (Russia). They have 2 points each.
3 rounds have been played at the main tournament «Open À9». And 7 participants keep hundred-per-cent winning. They are: Efimenko Zahar (Ukraine, 2638), Riazantsev Alexander (Russia, 2628), Volkov Sergey (Russia, 2623), Naumkin Igor (Russia, 2475), Svetushkin Dmitry (Moldavia, 2565), Zherebukh Yaroslav (Ukraine, 2420), Pustov Pavel (Russia, 2430).
This year «Â» players were not allowed to choose the schedule of the tournament, like players from «Open À», as it was last years. «B» tournament this year is the most numerous, it has 404 participants.
At the women’s tournament ELO-favorite Anna Ushenina (Ukraine, 2484) keeps winning after 3rd tour. Today she wins Salome Melia (Georgia, 2362). The leader of Armenia team Elina Danielyan (2480) has lost half point. She ended in a draw against Baira Kovanova (Russia, 2348).
